Photograph by Steve Raymer I had a brilliant idea (they happen once in awhile). To motivate myself up do stuffed animals like I've been wanting to I thought of doing animals A-Z. One animal per letter, preferably one that no one else has made yet. Is this something you would be interested in seeing? If so what animals would you like to see? I've started with an albatross.
Now that the albatross is out of the bag I will have to commit to finishing it. Let me know what you guys think and what animals you would like to see.
Thanks for reading, Kristina
We bought some new glasses the other day and realized fairly quickly the glasses were not insulated so left little rings and droplets of water everywhere. I used the bottle huggies pattern to make some huggies for the glasses. Thought I would share!
Base row 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch. Sl in first sc
Base row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in same st and each st around, ss in first sc
Base row 3: Ch 1, 1sc in same st, 2 sc next, repeat around
Base row 4: Ch 1, 1 sc in same st and next st, 2 sc next, repeat around
Base row 5: ch 1, sc in next three st and 2 sc in next, repeat around
I made three different styles of huggies, they differ when they reach the body of the glass for each start with a sc around in the back loops only.
Version 1: continue sc in back loops only until height of glass (I did 11 rows for a total of 12).
Version 2: dc each round in back loops only until desired height (I did 6 rows)
Version 3: sc in back loops for 4 rows, dc in bl for 2 rows, sc in bl only for the next 4 rows.
I did have a problem with the huggies slipping off so I turned the project for the last row to make it tighter. You can also decrease a few times if needed.
If you are a beginning crocheter you can see how easy it is to adjust a pattern to give a whole new look. Use your imagination to design your own pattern today!
Another use for old blue jeans! I made a pair of great bibs from this post: http://www.thimblythings.com/2009/06/01/in-praise-of-denim-bibs/
For the first bib I used a pair of Rami's old jeans. I loved the embroidered butterflies! I backed this bib with some light pink cotton.
Oh I have wanted to make towel toppers forever and finally find a fun and easy pattern to follow: http://kleiosbelly.wordpress.com/2010/01/04/christmas-prezzies-6-1-for-you/
I had two extra large cotton towels so I used them, cutting them in half. One Red and one Navy blue. I knew they would look so cute with blue jean tops!
After making the first blue jean skirt for Rami, my beautiful and talented granddaughter, I thought I would make her a couple more! This one will be hard to credit as I used a combination of ideas from different blogs.
I cut these jeans off a bit above the crotch and then using some cloth I bought from a quilter at a yardsale, I made a bubble skirt. These are great because then you don't have to make a hem!!
These jeans had the cutest embroidered butterflies and I would have loved to have used cloth with butterflies but I only had the puppies.
