We ate at the "Troll under the Bridge Pub". After picking the trolls nose, we went in and ordered - Greg and I had "Hot and Brown" which was pretty good.
Greg, David and I went to Fandom Fest in Kentucky this weekend and had a great time!

Surprise, I dyed my hair green! okay only half of it but still, pretty cool, eh? I wanted to do something fun with my hair that would show it off other than just leave it down so I was looking around for neat hair styles. I found one called the Chinese braided bun. It is normally made with a chopstick or hair stick but I decided to use a double ended bamboo knitting needle because, well because that is so me.
Newborns in need, www.newbornsinneed.org, is a great charity and one we donate to monthly. We go to the monthly meeting hosted by our local chapter where we get the chance to talk, share and learn with other like minded people and try to make a difference in the lives of the babies, siblings, and parents of preemie children. This month we donated several stuffed animals for the siblings, 2 hats for the babies in different sizes (all fashionable if I say so myself) a crocheted blanket and several sewn blankets and scent pads. NIN needs blankets of all sizes (shapes too I guess) so we did several different sizes and different materials from cloth to fleece to homespun crochet. I imagine the cloth touching the sweet babies' delicate skin, if it isn't soft enough then it won't make it in the pile. Here are some crochet hats. I want them to be fashionable but also soft. We only use super soft yarn or baby yarn. I like the thickness of the sport weight baby yarn but only if it is very soft. Caron Simply Soft is my favorite but I've been branching out to Bernat lately as well. I prefer neutral colors because anyone can wear them but NIN will happily take any color. Here is a close up of the scent pads. They are actually a bit small but they will serve their purpose. It helps the baby have the sent of mommy or daddy while they are away. Its a scary world for a little preemie and having a scent pad nearby helps them to be calmer and more at peace.
If you are looking for a charity to help may I suggest Newborns in Need. It is surprising, and saddening, to know how many preemies there are just in your local area. Find your branch today and help out. Hey everyone. I was browsing the web and came upon. http://thediyshow.com/2013/07/05/the-barefoot-sandal-challenge/
I couldn't resist taking the challenge. I have always wanted to do a barefoot sandal and have just never gotten around to is so I figured why not. I realized I did not have any beads, shells or charms on hand, just yarn.....so one pair of crochet sandals coming up! Do you like holidays? All of them or just one or two? I like them all! I celebrate New years, Valentine's day, Easter, St. Patrick's day... I could go on but you get it. I have special decorations for most holidays and I love to buy items on sale after the holiday - like valentines for my daughter's school class or Easter grass and plastic eggs. I am also big on using things over and over if possible (yes that includes the .99c Easter grass).
