Water Bottle Cozy
Yarn: Lily Sugar and Cream (I used American Stripes) 1 skein
Note: if you are careful with the length of your Strap handle I think 1 ball can make two bottles – I was a just bit short but one bottle has a very long strap.
Gauge: not necessary for this project
Done in rounds except for the last row. Also, the pattern calls for the body rows to be crochet in back loops only except for the decorative row and the final row. If you use both loops at each joining and for the first stitch, this will ensure the seam is sturdy and will resist pulling.
Base:
Base row 1: Ch 2, 6 hdc in 2nd ch. Sl in first hdc
Base row 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in same st and each st around, ss in first hdc
Base row 3: Ch 1, 1hdc in same st, 2 hdc next, repeat around
Base row 4: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st and next st, 2 hdc next, repeat around
Body row 5 - 7: Ch 1, working in back loops from here until otherwise specified, hdc in each st around
Decorative stitch:
Bottle Row 1: (this round uses both loops) ch1, dc in same st and next, ch 1, sk next st, dc in next two, repeat around
Bottle row 2: (this round use both loops) ch 1, 3 dc same st (shell made), sk 2 st and 3 dc shell in next, repeat around
Body Row 3 - 5: hdc in each st around, using back loops only
Decorative rows 6 – 7: Repeat row 1 and 2
Body rows 8 - 10: hdc repeat around
Decorative Row 11 - 12: repeat row 1 and 2
Neck row 13: Ch1 turn, hdc each st around, join.
Handle: Using both loops
Ch 1, sc in same st and next st, ch 1 turn, continue with 2 sc each row until length you desire.
Sl end of handle directly across from the 1st handle and sc across to bind it together or use your preferred joining method.
