We are so excited to be co-hosts for the American Girl Doll Mega Giveaway! The winner gets to pick the doll they want plus they will receive an awesome wardrobe for the doll! This giveaway will make someones dreams come true!
You may have seen the post where we made a purse for the doll. I also wanted to make something else but  my sewing skills are not up to making an outfit so decided to make a blanket! Every doll has to sleep sometime!

I started with a pile of left over jean legs from another project. I sorted them into two piles and picked two colors - light and dark.

Then rumaged in the scrap cloth I have to find a nice backing (you will see that later).

I just the side seams and laid out the legs, then cut strips about 4 inches wide and 20 inches long.

Using pins (yeah I don't always use those but did this time lol) I overlapped the jeans about an inch so that I could have some fringe on the front. I love jean fringe!

Using a bit of a fancy stitch, I sewed about a 3/4 of an inch in on the top jean, securing it to the bottom jean. Hope this makes sense!!

When all the strips were sewn together, I chunked it in the wash for a few rounds to encourage the fringe. I ended also pulling some threads by hand until I got the look I wanted.

Next, I cut the backing cloth to the size of the jean front and pinned them right sides together.

I sewed around leaving a gap on one side for turning. After ironing, I sewed a 1/4 in seam around the whole edge, securing that turning spot closed.

Lovely little blanket! And if you don't count the washing and picking of threads, it only took about an hour to make! So quick too.

Good luck to everyone entering the giveaway!

I am jealous! I started a few jean projects a few weeks ago and busted 3 needles! I haven't sewn in YEARS...so I am certain it is operator error! I did get some curtains made though...hey...its a start!

Jeans are tough! Gotta get the right needles. I googled it, bought a big pack, not sure now though what they were....check it out though, it sure helps! And switch to new ones often too. Let us know what you make!!
