We are trying to come up with 101 ways to reuse blue jeans! Fun project and, as a bonus, will help the environment but keeping these jeans from the landfill.

Brainstorming some ideas I decided to do a stocking! I saw these numerous places made of everything under the sun so I can't give credit to anywhere in particular.

First I googled images of stockings and picked a simple looking one. Laid it out on my jean scraps and snip snip snip.

While getting the scissors, I found a bag of quilt squares so decided to add a square to the top and then to add a pocket. Then realized I would need two...do your projects every blow up like that?

Picture
For the top detail I ironed the square in half and then ironed over a quarter inch or so on the edges I planned to sew over the edge.

For the pocket I ironed a quarter inch(ish) on all 4 sides.

I sandwiched (yumm now I need lunch) the jean inbetween the folds of my quilt square and ran a zig zag across the top.

For the back of the stocking I just folded down a quarter inch(ish), ironed it and then sewed it down.

Picture
For the pocket, I ran a zig zag across the top and then pinned down my ironed square and sewed the other three edges. See how good I was to pin pin pin it down? And it looks soooo cute!

Picture
Pinned the stockings, outsides together then I sewed, sewed, sewed around the edges. Because you don't sew the top, it's easy to turn inside right! Smooth out the edges and then iron it a bit all around.

So then decided to make one a bit more Christmassy, added some red cloth that had little sequins sewn on. Left off the pocket for this one but I don't think it needs it.

Please send your ideas on ways to upcycle blue jeans! Our goal is 101 and this is.....7....
Thanks for reading, Millie
