I was looking at a pair of Rami's old jeans and thought I could make a wine carrier or gift bag out of them. Here it is! What do you think?
Materials needed:
Kid jeans
small piece of cotton batting

Take the jeans and cut off the legs, about an inch or two longer than the bottle.
Using some scraps make a pair of circles about in inch bigger than the base of the wine bottle. Make one from the scrap of batting as well. (this is optional, I just wanted a bit extra protection on the bottom).
So you now have 2 jean legs, 2 jean circles and the circle of batting.
Using the thigh part of the leg, turn inside out and place one of the circles (right side to right side) in, matching edges. Sew around the edge and turn in side right.
Repeat for the other leg but add the cotton batting last (jean leg inside out, then the jean circle and the batting). Leave this leg inside out.

Tuck the leg with the batting into the other jean leg. Match the top edge (the hem of the jean) and carefully sew a seam on the inside of the hem (if you have a good needle you can sew the hems instead, I just didn't want to chance it.)
Next I used a business card to draw a square on the jeans (this will make the handle). I carefully cut out the square and then realized I couldn't leave it like that.
I used a decorative stitch across the top and bottom of my handle opening. I will (probably) hand sew up the sides as well.
Done! This was a pretty easy project and fun! I hope it inspires you to make something today. Please share your thoughts, ideas or completed projects. We would love to see/hear about them!
